Uncovering the Truth: Do You Really Have Limiting Beliefs?

I want to change jobs, but I don’t think I am skilled enough for the job that I want. The job description asks for all these things, and well I have only done like 80 % of those things and I don’t think I will be able to deliver.”
Or
“ I look in the mirror and I see so much fat and I am ugly.”

It comes as no surprise that many of us stop ourselves from living to our full potential, because we have this intrinsic belief that we have to be perfect before we make a move, or that we have to know everything before trying something new, or if only I was prettier or skinnier… the list is long!
It is actually really common in people with negative limiting beliefs.
But hold on a second, I am a pretty positive person. I don’t have negative thinking or limiting beliefs.
Sure that’s what you think, but all this inner talk that you only know 80% of the things required for the job, or that you don’t think you will be able to deliver is all negative an limiting. The other side of that coin would be “Amazing I know 80% of the things required and which means I can learn the rest. What a great opportunity to up-skill myself. I will definitely try”. You see the difference?
Ok, now it hit you, maybe you do have limiting beliefs.
So what would be behind this thought that you need to have 100% to apply for the job? Is it that deep down inside you believe you are not smart enough, or that you are not good enough? That is your subconscious limiting belief pulling the invisible strings of your life.
We all have them, and we all have blind spots. We walk through life not knowing, or having very little awareness, and this is where coaching can help. To help you bring the subconscious into the conscious and help you live a more fierce authentic and fierce life.

So, what do you do about it?
Well first you need to understand how limiting beliefs work. The process is simple:
First you have an intrinsic core belief, that is usually subconscious. So, you are not aware of it, but it runs your life.
These beliefs then translate into thoughts. For example: I don’t think I will be able to deliver because I only know 80% of the things required.”
Thoughts then translate to emotions, so you start to feel a bit anxious, maybe not at ease, a bit annoyed with yourself, or maybe even sad because you feel helpless “if only I knew the other 20%”.
These emotions then turn into actions. So, you will not apply for the job because you feel anxious about not knowing the 20%.
These actions then turn into patterns. Meaning you will keep not applying for those jobs where you are not 100% qualified, and you stay stuck in a job where you are not motivated anymore. In this job you know 100%, but you are not growing anymore because there is no room for learning.
So, you keep reinforcing the negative loop that you must stick to your job, the one that you know because you could not possibly apply for a job where you don’t know everything.
What is difficult is breaking the pattern.
The funny part is that the 20% that you don’t know might be exactly what you need to motivate you, to take you out of your comfort zone and to grow.
What next?
Once you identified that you have a limiting belief then you want to learn to break the pattern of limiting beliefs and flip the script.
